IF YOU RENT A PRIVATE ACCOMMODATION:

You have to sign a lease as well as make an inventory and a statement of state of repair with the landlord. Verify carefully duration of the lease and advance notice (in general 3 months before leave date).

Security deposit will be requested by the landlord, paid back if no damages are caused in the house. The amount of the deposit is one-month-rent.

You have to provide a proof of guarantee signed by the guarantor (a person who declares to pay a rent if you stop paying it). Guarantor must live in the EU territory and provide documents stating his/ her identity and income (recent pay slips and tax statements).

You should also get the comprehensive household insurance (against fire, water damage) and personal accident insurance (please check with students' mutual insurance companies).

Attention:

If you find an accommodation thanks to real estate agency, usually you will have to pay one-month-rent fee.

Some agencies offer an access to their data base (a list of the available accommodation) which is not for free (about 150 eur). This fee will not be refunded, even if you don't find a housing using service of this agency.
